A private hospital in Ibb Governorate detained an infant due to funds owed to the hospital in an incident that turned into a public opinion issue among Yemeni activists on social media.
According to documents and photos circulated on social media platforms yesterday by a number of activists, it was revealed that an infant was detained in a private hospital in Ibb Governorate, owed 800,000 Yemeni riyals.
According to the documents, the child is mortgaged to Al-Burj Hospital in the amount of 800 thousand, which is the cost of the caesarean section performed on his mother and the cost of placing him in the nursery.
The mother and father were unable to pay the amount and had no choice until they placed the infant in hospital until the amount was paid.
It is worth noting that the phenomenon of detaining patients in hospitals is one of the strange phenomena that has emerged in Yemen in recent years as a result of the absence of government control over the prices of medical services in private hospitals, which impose exorbitant sums on patients at a time when citizens are suffering from deteriorating living conditions.< /p>
