The capital, Aden, witnessed, at dawn on Saturday, the collapse of part of the asphalt on 90th Street in Mansoura Aden, following heavy rains in the city.
The incident sparked widespread dissatisfaction among citizens and criticism of the quality of infrastructure in the city.
A picture has spread showing the collapse of part of the street that was asphalted only a few months ago, and was carried out by a local company known for implementing Road Maintenance Fund projects.
Citizens shared the picture of the collapse on social media, expressing their dissatisfaction with the repetition of these incidents in Aden with the first wave of rain.
They stressed that this accident reflects the poor quality of construction and its failure to comply with the required technical standards, which leads to the collapse of roads as soon as they are exposed to harsh weather conditions.
Citizens demanded the need to improve construction and maintenance standards, and ensure the durability of roads and public facilities to face weather and environmental conditions.
They stressed that investing in a strong and sustainable infrastructure is an urgent necessity to improve the quality of life in the city and avoid the recurrence of these accidents that endanger the lives and property of citizens.
Hours after heavy rains fell, some streets were still flooded with UAE water, which affected the infrastructure and hampered citizens’ movements, in addition to the spread of diseases.
