This morning, the Solidarity Forum for Development 2024 event was launched in the city of Mukalla, organized by the Aoun Foundation for Development through its implementing partner, the Estidama Foundation for Capacity Development, in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank and the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development, under the slogan “An international partnership to empower local organizations to support the recovery phase in Yemen".
In the forum, the Governor of Hadhramaut, Mr. Mabkhout Mubarak bin Madi, confirmed that this forum, in which an elite group of experts from inside and outside the country participate, is a forum for hope, sending from Mukalla, the capital of Hadhramaut, a message of hope to the entire country, appreciating the efforts of those in charge of the forum, wishing for success. And success for the forum’s tasks to produce development outcomes that benefit Hadhramaut and the nation.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor for the Social Welfare Sector, Mr. Saleh Mahmoud, conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr. Muhammad Al-Zaouri, and his congratulations on the success of the forum in partnership between the government and civil society organizations, stressing that the Ministry has great interest in organizations, especially those working in the field of sustainable development, praising the efforts of Al-Aoun Foundation for Development and its specific programs.
The Executive Director of the Estidama Foundation, Mr. Hani Bin Karroum, indicated that the forum is an embodiment of a common vision and is the result of an exceptional meeting. It is a development icon for the meaning of sustainable development, through which everyone seeks to be a milestone as an initiative to prove that development is not an individual act, but rather based on partnership to achieve sustainable development.
The representative of the Islamic Development Bank, Ahmed Berth, spoke about his happiness to be a speaker in the forum, which seeks to get rid of poverty by empowering supporters, working hard, and supporting civil society organizations in how to reach and help the most needy communities. He works side by side with governments to reduce poverty. , to reach the stage of sustainability by relying on experiences
The forum opened an exhibition of civil society organizations with the participation of 28 organizations, during which a number of them provided an explanation to the dignitaries of the organizations’ efforts and programs to advance the recovery process in the country.
The forum witnessed a number of sessions. The first session included the strategic directions of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation to advance the recovery phase, the optimal use of foreign aid and grants according to needs, in addition to the flexible policies of the Ministry of Social Affairs to advance the recovery phase.
The second session dealt with the diplomatic efforts of the Yemeni embassies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Turkey to advance the recovery phase, and in the third session, the active participation of civil society organizations in strengthening empowerment efforts and improving recovery mechanisms in Yemen.
The fourth and final session on the first day of the three-day forum discussed the tripartite approach and its role in mobilizing funding by designing interventions that keep pace with donor trends to move from the relief phase to the development and peacebuilding phase.
The forum will generally address 6 plenary sessions and 7 knowledge workshops during the three days of the forum.
During the forum, the local authority in Hadhramaut Governorate, represented by the governor, was honored, as well as the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and its offices in a number of governorates, and a number of actors, and a report was presented and a report on the most prominent stages of the Solidarity Forum.
