Today, Tuesday, ten projects were launched in the water sector in Al-Mahfad District in Abyan Governorate, under the patronage of Commander Abdul Rahman Al-Muharrami, member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Vice President of the Southern Transitional Council, and funding from the United Arab Emirates.
These projects include providing solar-powered water pumps, maintaining some old tanks, and constructing new concrete tanks, in addition to maintaining the old feeding network and replacing damaged parts with new pipes to ensure that the service reaches the citizens of ten areas and villages in Al-Mahfad. They are: Al-Kafaa, Al-Rahba, Al-Jazza’, Al-Haq Al-Sharqiya, Al-Haq Al-Gharbiyya, Al-Jazira, Al-Mutawa’, Al-Qarara, Al-Shughaib, and Al-Khor.
This initiative, which comes within the efforts of our brothers in the UAE to support the water sector and provide basic services to rural areas, aims to find sustainable solutions to the water scarcity crisis, which is one of the most prominent challenges facing the residents of Al-Mahfad District. It also contributes directly to improving People's daily living conditions by providing clean, potable water, which relieves them of the heavy burdens they incurred in purchasing and transporting water.
During the inauguration, the Director General of Al-Mahfad, Ahmed Abdullah Haidara, explained that the water network in these areas was dilapidated and did not cover the needs of the district’s population of about 28,807 people. Expressing his deep gratitude to the United Arab Emirates and the Muharram leader for their great efforts to implement vital and development projects aimed at improving the daily lives of citizens.
For their part, the people of those beneficiary areas confirmed that these projects represent a lifeline for them and their families, especially in light of the difficult circumstances in which they live... expressing their thanks and appreciation to the brothers in the UAE and its wise leadership for this initiative and the generous gesture that alleviates their suffering in Get a drink of clean water.
