The National Center of Meteorology expects cold weather to continue in the coming hours in a number of governorates, with warnings for citizens and sea-goers.
The center indicated in its daily bulletin that the mountain highlands will witness cold weather during the night and early morning in the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sana’a, Dhamar, and Al Bayda, where minimum temperatures range between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius. The weather will also be relatively cold in the highlands of the governorates of Ibb, Al-Dhalea, Lahj, and Abyan, with temperatures ranging between 8 and 12 degrees Celsius, with the possibility of cumulus rain clouds forming over parts of Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, and Raymah during the afternoon.
As for the coastal areas, the weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy, with moderate to active winds on the western coast and the entrance to Bab al-Mandab, at speeds ranging between 15 and 25 knots, leading to turbulent seas and high waves. The desert areas will also witness relatively clear and cool weather at night and in the morning, with winds stirring dust and sand during the day.
The center warned citizens, especially children and the elderly, in mountainous areas of exposure to extreme cold, and warned fishermen and seafarers south of the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab of sea turbulence and high waves.
