Taiz University is scheduled for a comprehensive strike to implement its demands

The faculty members at Taiz University confirmed that they will not stand idly by and start raising red flags starting next week, followed by carrying out protests and leading to a general strike in rejection of the miserable conditions in which they are living, holding the concerned authorities fully responsible for any consequences unless their demands are met immediately.
This came in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Al-Ayyam yesterday, warning of the danger of the current situation and the dire consequences after the torrent reached extremes and the suffering exceeded the limits of tolerance.
The statement said: “The accelerating and terrifying collapse of the national currency and the accompanying insane rise in the prices of food, medicines and all basic supplies, the rise in housing rents, and the demands of many landlords to pay rents in Saudi riyals instead of the Yemeni riyals, and all of that has made the lives of us, the teachers of the generations, an unbearable hell.” The salary has become meager and worth nothing, and is no longer sufficient to provide the minimum necessities of a decent life for our families, even for one week.”
He added, "What exacerbated the tragedy was the legitimate government’s neglect of its obligations and its failure to pay salaries in general and the salary for the month of October 2024 in particular as the end of November approaches, ignoring all values, customs and appeals. After the building of despair has reached its end, we raise our voices demanding our legitimate rights and the rights of our children." In a decent life before these miserable conditions lead to the abyss of famine and homelessness in the streets and camps Displacement.”
The statement demanded that “the salaries of faculty members and assistant faculty members be paid in full, including all allowances, equivalent to the value of the 2014 salaries in hard currency (dollars/euros), with a commitment to pay them regularly on the 25th day of every month without any delay, and to pay the late financial dues in full.” Since 2017 AD, equivalent to its value at the time, raising the wages for additional teaching hours, disbursing the dues for refereeing master’s and doctoral dissertations, and approving the payment of a salary for each year during the academic sabbatical period, and the arbitrators’ dues. For complete promotions research.
The statement also called for the commitment of the leadership of Taiz University to provide comprehensive health insurance for the teaching staff and their assistants, and to disburse financial support from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank for Academic Settlements and Promotions.
