The second in less than two weeks.. A shipment of smuggled medicines was seized at Aden Airport

Security services at Aden International Airport (southern Yemen) seized a large shipment of smuggled medicines coming from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, yesterday, Thursday.
A security source at Aden Airport reported that the shipment of illegal medicines was hidden inside passengers' luggage and was discovered during routine inspection procedures, as it did not carry the legal documents necessary for its entry into the country.
A source at the Supreme Authority for Medicines explained that the shipment included many types of medicines, including medicines for strokes and diabetics, anti-inflammatory treatments, and central nervous system stimulants, which are used to treat low blood pressure during spinal anesthesia.
While the security source stated that the competent authorities began investigating those involved in preparation for referring them to the judicial authorities.
This comes less than two weeks after airport security seized a shipment of smuggled medicines inside two bags that were coming from the Indian city of Bombay.
A source at the Medicines Authority stated that the shipment includes 13 types of medicine for treating colon, cancer, anti-snake bites, and others, in addition to empty packages and wrappers for 15 types of medicine.
Smuggling groups are taking advantage of the state of war that the country is witnessing and the resulting horrific security chaos that has greatly affected the national economy to deprive the state treasury of legal taxes, in addition to the health risks resulting from the entry of some illegal pharmaceutical items
