A new statement by Biden regarding the Houthis

US President Joe Biden confirmed that the Houthi group still poses a threat against his country's forces, military ships, and international shipping traffic in the Red Sea.
Biden said in a letter to Congress regarding the War Powers Report, on Friday: “Houthi militants continue to pose a threat to launch future attacks against American forces and military ships, and against other maritime traffic in the region.”
Biden added that the Houthis, since at least November 2023, have participated in a series of attacks against US military forces, including ships and aircraft, and against commercial shipping operating in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden, “and these attacks These attacks posed a threat to the safety of our forces, merchant ships and their crews, regional political and economic stability, and the rights and freedoms of navigation.”
The letter, published by the White House website, indicated that US forces, in response to these attacks, carried out separate strikes against facilities, sites and equipment in Yemen that support and facilitate attacks by Houthi militants in the Red Sea region.
Biden stressed that these strikes aim to “protect and defend our personnel and assets, and to undermine and disrupt the ability of Houthi militants to carry out future attacks against the United States and against ships operating in the Red Sea region, which would further destabilize the region and threaten the strategic interests of the United States.” ".
Biden revealed that the US military continues to work closely with the internationally recognized Yemeni government and regional partner forces to reduce the terrorist threat posed by Al-Qaeda and ISIS in the Arabian Peninsula.
