Lamlas discusses the issue of illegal immigration with the High Commissioner and inspects sanitation projects in Aden

The Minister of State and Governor of the capital, Aden, Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, received today, Monday, Mr. Muhammad Rafiq Nasri, Head of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Aden. During the meeting, which was attended by Ambassador Muthanna Al-Amiri and the Governor’s Advisor for Humanitarian Affairs, Muhammad Jabbari, a number of issues related to humanitarian work in the capital were discussed, including issues of illegal immigration, asylum, and displacement. The challenges associated with it and ways to enhance cooperation to support development aspects and improve the conditions of host communities were also reviewed.
Later in the day, Lamlas inspected the progress of work in the project to rehabilitate the main sewage pumping station in Al-Tawahi District, and rehabilitate the main line extending to Hajif roundabout in Al-Mualla District. He was accompanied on the visit by the Director General of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, Engineer Muhammad Bakhbira, and his Deputy for Sanitation, Zaki Haddad. Lamlas stressed the importance of the strategic project to improve the sanitation infrastructure, stressing the need to adhere to the technical specifications and timetables set for completing the work.
Engineer Bakhabira explained that the project, funded by the World Bank through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), will contribute to ending the direct discharge of wastewater, which will benefit four main districts: Al-Tawahi, Al-Mualla, Sira, and Khormaksar. The project includes the supply and installation of polyethylene pipes with a diameter of 450 mm, with an average depth of 2.2 meters, with all accessories, in addition to the restoration and rehabilitation of the main sewage pump in Al-Tawahi District.
