The Prisoners' Authority welcomes the US sanctions on the Houthi Prisoners' Affairs Committee

In a step it considered positive on the path to achieving justice for thousands of prisoners and abductees in Yemen, the Prisoners and Abductees Authority welcomed the imposition of sanctions by the United States of America on the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee of the Houthi group and its head, Abdul Qadir Al-Murtada.
The Commission confirmed in a statement that these sanctions are the culmination of tireless efforts made at the local and international levels to expose the grave violations committed by the Houthi group against prisoners and abductees, which include torture, forced disappearance, and denial of medical care.
The Commission stressed that these sanctions send a clear message to all parties involved in human rights violations in Yemen that they will not go unpunished, and that the international community will not stand idly by in the face of these crimes.
The Commission called on the international community to intensify its efforts to push the Houthi group to release all prisoners and abductees unconditionally, and to work to hold those responsible for these crimes accountable.
