An important announcement by the UN envoy ahead of a Security Council session on Yemen

The office of the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, issued an important statement today, Wednesday, ahead of a session to be held by the Security Council regarding the current developments in Yemen.
The statement said: “The UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, will brief the Security Council today, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, on the latest developments in Yemen, at 18:00 Yemen time, 10:00 New York time.” ".
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is scheduled to discuss, in its monthly meeting, the latest developments in the military and humanitarian situation in Yemen, including the continued faltering political process, the deteriorating economic situation and the effects of the regional escalation on the country.
According to the United Nations website, the Security Council will begin an open session, followed by closed consultations, which will focus on the humanitarian and economic conditions in the country, the road map talks that have been stalled for about a year, and other sensitive issues, such as the Houthis’ continued detention of United Nations employees and workers in civil society organizations. And diplomatic missions.
The UN special envoy to Yemen is scheduled to present: Hans Grundberg, the new Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator; Thomas Fletcher, during the open session, gave two briefings on developments in the political, military, humanitarian and human rights situation in the country.
