The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center “Masam” project to clear Yemeni lands of mines was able, during the first week of November 2023, to remove 835 mines in various regions of Yemen, including 20 anti-personnel mines, 112 anti-tank mines, and 703 unexploded ordnance.
The project explained that its team removed 170 unexploded ordnance in Aden Governorate, and in Hodeidah Governorate, it removed 16 unexploded ordnance in Al-Khawkhah District, 4 anti-tank mines and 48 unexploded ordnance in Hays District, and in Ma’rib Governorate the team was also able to remove one ammunition.
In Shabwa Governorate, the team removed one anti-personnel mine in Ain District, and in Usaylan District, 5 anti-tank mines were removed. In Taiz Governorate, the “Masam” team was able to remove 13 unexploded ordnance in Bab al-Mandab District, and 43 unexploded ordnance in Al-Mukha District, one anti-personnel mine, two anti-tank mines, and 12 unexploded ordnance in Dhubab District.
Thus, the number of mines removed since the beginning of the “Masam” project until now has risen to 420,832 mines that were planted randomly in various Yemeni territories to claim more innocent victims, including children, women and the elderly.
The Kingdom, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Relief Center, through the “Masam” project, continues to contribute to helping the Yemeni brothers to live a decent life.
