The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr. Muhammad Saeed Al-Zaouri, met in his office this Monday morning with the staff of the Yamani Humanitarian Foundation, represented by the President of the Foundation, Mr. Ahmed Al-Akwa, and the activities of the orphan sponsorship and economic empowerment project (second phase) were discussed.
The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor agreed with the management of the Yamani Foundation to launch the project on Thursday, 11-9-2023 AD.
The project targets 1,740 beneficiaries directly from orphan families in eight Yemeni governorates (Aden, Lahj, Ma’rib, Al-Mahra, Hadhramaut, Al-Hudaydah, Taiz, Al-Jawf) for a full year by creating sustainable job opportunities for families that have lost their breadwinner and transferring them to To productive families.
The project includes distributing school bags to 1,300 orphans, providing 1,300 orphans within the targeted families with livelihood, educational, and health guarantees, and training 440 families who lost their breadwinners to develop their capabilities regarding livelihood projects, providing them with small income-generating projects, and providing the requirements for their establishment. The project will also coordinate With the official and concerned authorities to ensure improved access to the market for target families.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Saeed Al-Zaouri, stressed the importance of this agreement and the joint work between the ministry and local and external organizations.
The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Mr. Saleh Mahmoud, and the head of the Ministry’s Associations Department, Mr. Muhammad Al-Samati.
