18,000 Africans arrived in Yemen last month

The International Organization for Migration announced that more than 18,000 African migrants arrived in Yemen illegally last November.
The organization said that its tracking matrix recorded last November the arrival of 18,035 migrants to Yemen, an increase of 183% over the total number reported in the previous month, in which 6,364 migrants entered.
She explained that the majority of migrants arriving in Yemen are Ethiopians, and 91% of the migrants entered the coast of Taiz Governorate on the western coast of Yemen via Djibouti, while 9% arrived to the coast of Shabwa coming from the coast of Somalia.
She pointed out that the percentage of male African immigrants is 55% of the general total of incoming immigrants, compared to 26% of children, and 19% of women.
The total number of African migrants to Yemen rose during the period from January to November of this year to 40,462 migrants, according to International Migration.
