Execution of a death sentence in Aden: His mother's killer dies

The South Aden Appeals Prosecution Office carried out this morning, in the courtyard of the central prison in Mansoura, Aden Governorate, a death sentence by firing squad until death as a punishment against the convict Afif Salem Muhammad Al-Hajj for deliberately and aggressively killing the victim, his mother, Fatouma Omar Abdullah Basheem.
The death sentence was executed in implementation of the ruling of the Sira Court of First Instance issued on 9/10/2020 AD in Criminal Case No. 44 of 2020 AD, J.J., the Sira First Instance Prosecution, which ruled that Afif Salem Muhammad Al-Hajj be sentenced to death by firing squad for killing the victim, his mother, Fatuma. Omar Abdullah Basahim, intentionally and aggressively, according to the ruling of the Aden Governorate Court of Appeal, Division The Second Penal Code issued on 12/5/2021 AD, and on the final, final decision issued by the Supreme Court Military District (Penal Body B) issued on 5/26/2024 AD approving the initial ruling while amending the status from murder, retaliation to discretionary punishment, and on the Public Prosecutor’s report issued On 9/9/2024 AD, and after the approval of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council on 11/12/2024 AD.
After completing these procedures, the Public Prosecutor, Judge Qaher Mustafa Ali, directed that the implementation procedures be completed, and after reading the operative part of the ruling and the implementation document by Judge Mustafa Salah Al-Zulaikhi, the death sentence was executed under the supervision and presence of the Chief Prosecutor of the Appeals Prosecution in the south of Aden Governorate, Judge Wadah Abdullah Badib. In the presence of the Deputy Prosecutor of Sirah Primary School, Judge Wadih Aman, the Deputy Prosecutor for Security and Research, Judge Bassam Ghaleb, Judge Anis Saleh Jumaan, and the Deputy Prosecutor. The Central Prison, Judge Nasser Modhesh, members of the Central Prison Prosecution, Judge Salah Al-Junaidi, Judge Samir Hamid Shotah, Judge Safia Mahfouz Ali, Judge Muhammad Najib Awad, the Head of the Criminal Registry at the South Aden Appeals Prosecution, Mr. Amr Anis Bilal, and the Head of the Criminal Registry, the Sira Primary Prosecution, Mr. Ayman. Al-Sufi, the director of the central prison, Colonel Naqeeb Al-Yahri, the blood relatives of the victim, and a number of security personnel and citizens.
The execution of the ruling came as a result of the efforts made by His Excellency the Public Prosecutor, Judge Qaher Mustafa Ali, in his keenness to speed up the procedures by ratifying him before His Excellency the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, which completed the death penalty for the guardians of blood by firing squad until death as a punishment from the convict in compliance with the Almighty’s saying: (And to you There is life in retaliation, my friend hearts that you may become righteous).
It is worth noting that this death sentence by firing squad until death as a discretionary punishment is the first sentence to be implemented by the Public Prosecution in Aden Governorate.
