The Al-Jafina area in Ma’rib Governorate witnessed a tragic accident today at dawn as a result of an electrical short circuit that caused a gas bottle to explode, leading to the complete burning of the house of one of the displaced people. The fire resulted in the death of a seven-year-old girl, who was severely burned until her body was charred. The head of the family and one of the sons also sustained minor burns as a result of the fire.
Local residents, along with civil firefighting, police and security teams, rushed to the scene as soon as they heard of the bottle explosion. They were able to quickly control the fire, preventing it from spreading to neighboring residences. Some of those affected were also transported to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment.
Despite the efforts made, some family members still need medical treatment, in addition to psychological support due to the trauma they experienced. Survivors are also in urgent need of emergency shelter and food.
This incident highlights the dangers of random electrical connection in displacement areas, as it can lead to such disasters that harm the lives of innocent civilians. We call on local and humanitarian agencies to quickly provide the necessary support to those affected and secure their livelihoods in these difficult circumstances.
