The Saudi project “Masam” to clear Yemeni lands of anti-mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices planted by the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia, announced the removal of anti-tank mines on a desert road in Shabwa Governorate.
Team 6 of the Masam Project said that it was able to remove and dismantle 6 anti-tank mines on a desert road in the area of Shaqat Al-Tayyar in the Asilan District of Shabwa Governorate.
Shabwa Governorate is one of the Yemeni governorates whose lands the Houthi militias have booby-trapped with mines and explosive devices, after the areas and districts of the West Coast and Marib. The militias have planted their mines and explosive devices in agricultural lands, water wells, on public and desert roads, and in sheep and livestock grazing areas.
This comes after a previous statement in which the project stated that its demining teams removed 835 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices, during the period from October 28 to November 3, and the quantity included 20 anti-personnel mines and 112 anti-tank mines. And 703 unexploded ordnance, adding that the project’s demining teams cleared 194,509 square meters of Yemeni territory in October.
He also announced the total toll of what Masam’s teams removed, neutralizing and destroying 420,832 explosive devices in the liberated Yemeni areas, including 6,388 anti-personnel mines, 141,666 anti-tank mines, 264,879 unexploded ordnance, and 7,899 improvised explosive devices. It has been neutralized on an area of 51,082,121 square meters of land since mid-2018.
