Al-Eryani: Houthi policies are destroying the economy and requiring military strikes in the service of Iran

The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, said, “The terrorist Houthi militias, supported by the Iranian regime, continue to call for military strikes, in light of policies of systematic destruction of the national economy, without any concern for the suffering of citizens, and the catastrophic economic and living conditions.”
Muammar Al-Eryani added in a press statement, “The Yemeni citizen is paying the greatest price for the devastating wars sparked by the terrorist Houthi militia, with Iranian planning, financing and arming, since its brutal coup against the state in 2014.”
Al-Eryani pointed out that the Houthi militia took control of the Central Bank in Sanaa and government and private banks in the areas under its control by force, and diverted state resources to finance the war, which led to the collapse of the national currency, high rates of poverty and unemployment, and an unprecedented increase in famine rates. , which deepens the scale of human suffering in the country.
Al-Eryani added, "Since 2015, the Houthi militia has forcibly stopped the disbursement of salaries of state employees in the areas under its control, and has thwarted all agreements sponsored by the United Nations, in addition to the efforts taken by the legitimate government unilaterally to restore regular disbursement of salaries after imposing a monetary division in January." 2020, and prevented the circulation of the new currency.”
He pointed out that the Houthi militia imposed illegal taxes on merchants and citizens, which led to a rise in the prices of food and consumer goods, adding an additional burden to Yemeni families suffering from poverty and hunger. These are not just practices of financial corruption, but rather the actions of gangs aimed at Looting resources and perpetuating the suffering of the people, without the slightest regard for the rights of citizens.
Al-Eryani continued: “The Houthi militia continues to impose illegal fees and royalties, and steal the humanitarian aid that is sent to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. That aid, which was supposed to be a lifeline for thousands of Yemenis, is transferred to the black market to sell it and finance endless wars.” Which increases the complexity of the humanitarian situation in the country.
Al-Eryani called on the international community to realize the fact that the Houthi militia’s manipulation of the economy is not just an internal crime, but rather a serious threat to the stability of the entire region. These policies not only exacerbate the humanitarian crisis and hinder relief efforts, but also weaken any attempts at future development in Yemen, which It prolongs the crisis and increases the complexity of possible solutions.
Al-Eryani stressed that the international community is required to unite in the face of the Houthi militia that seeks to perpetuate ruin and destruction in Yemen, and to take a decisive stance against this subversive terrorist project, by immediately beginning to classify it as a “global terrorist group” and prosecuting its leaders before international criminal courts. For the crimes and violations they committed against civilians, as well as their terrorist activities that represent a blatant violation of international laws, conventions and treaties.
