The US Embassy renews its call for the immediate release of detainees held by the Houthis

Today, the US Embassy in Yemen renewed its call on the Houthi militia to immediately and unconditionally release all its detainees, stressing that these arbitrary arrests represent a flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law.
In a statement, the embassy indicated that the Houthis are detaining dozens of civilians, including former employees of the American Embassy, without any legal justification, and demanded their immediate release and return to their families.
The US Embassy affirmed its commitment to supporting the Yemeni people and their basic rights, and called on the international community to pressure the Houthis to urgently release all detainees.
