United Nations: What is happening in Yemen represents a dangerous escalation

United Nations Assistant Secretary-General Khaled Khayari said that the exchange of attacks between the Houthis and Israel undermines the security of the entire region.
Khiari confirmed - during his briefing before the Security Council - that the Middle East is witnessing a dangerous escalation of hostilities between Israel and the Houthis.
He renewed the concern of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, about the escalation in Yemen, and also repeated his calls for respect for international law.
He called for an end to the attacks launched from areas controlled by the Houthis, considering the attacks in Israel, Yemen, and in the Red Sea, a source of grave concern.
He said that Israel's attacks in Yemen undermine efforts to reach humanitarian services, and expressed his support for comprehensive efforts to stop the conflict in the Middle East.
In turn, Washington's representative to the Security Council said that Iran's provision of weapons to the Houthis represents a flagrant violation of Security Council resolutions.
It called for providing international guarantees to prevent the smuggling of weapons from Iran to the Houthis.
