A demonstration by teachers in Taiz demanding salaries and better wages

Today, the city of Taiz witnessed a massive demonstration by teachers, demanding regular payment of salaries and raising the minimum wage in line with the deteriorating economic conditions in the country.
This demonstration came in response to a call from the Yemeni Teachers Union in the governorate, where participants raised banners demanding that the teacher be respected and honored to ensure that he fully carries out his duty. The demonstration statement confirmed that the union has exhausted all legitimate means to demand teachers’ rights, including appeals, memos, and protests.
The statement indicated that the authorities ignored basic demands such as the regularity and improvement of salary disbursement, and called for the disbursement of all late salaries since 2016-2017 AD, while demanding the improvement of water, electricity, and health services in the city.
The union confirmed that it will continue to pursue its demands with the local and central authorities until all rights are achieved.
