An important government decision regarding African immigrants in Yemen

Major General Abdul-Jabbar Salem, Undersecretary of the Immigration, Passports and Nationality Authority, directed the Director General of the General Department of Follow-up and Deportation of the Authority, Brigadier General Saleh Mohsen Al-Okaimi, to follow up on what was approved of the action plan, regarding obligating all beneficiaries, including businessmen, companies, contractors, and all persons, groups, or institutions that have projects, to comply. Preventing the employment or use of refugees and immigrants in any work and prohibiting their employment, with priority given to Yemeni workers.
The directives of Undersecretary Abdul-Jabbar Salem stressed coordination and cooperation with the relevant government agencies, the local authority and the security services in the temporary capital, Aden, in a way that would make the action plan and what was approved regarding migrants and those coming from the Horn of Africa a success.
The directives of the Undersecretary of the Immigration, Passports and Nationality Department, Major General Abdul-Jabbar Salem, came in conjunction with the directives of His Excellency the Minister of the Interior, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, and in view of the immigrants’ takeover of jobs in restaurants, shops, and all businesses in the private sector due to their cheap wages, which led to the private sector resorting to employing them. And employing them, and this led to depriving Yemeni workers of obtaining jobs in the private sector, pointing out that their employment encourages an increase in the income of illegal immigrants. In very large numbers, and this is what we witnessed in the last months of last year 2024 AD.
The directives of Undersecretary Abdul Jabbar made it clear that these steps taken by the Immigration, Passports and Nationality Service aim to alleviate the suffering of our citizens at home due to the difficult economic conditions that our country is going through.
The directives indicated that the leadership of the Immigration, Passports and Nationality Authority hopes that the leadership of the local authority in the temporary capital, Aden, represented by His Excellency the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, in cooperation with the Immigration, Passports and Nationality Authority, represented by the General Administration for Follow-up and Deportation of the Authority, will implement the action plan regarding preventing, employing or... Assisting refugees and migrants in any work and ensuring their employment, and finding the necessary solutions in coordination with relevant international organizations regarding migrants and refugees to find shelter places for them and deport them to their countries. Because they constitute a great burden on our country in these difficult circumstances that our country is going through, and their presence also poses a threat to public tranquility.
