The Forecast and Early Warning Center of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology in Aden warned of a severe cold wave, which may be accompanied by frost, in the coming hours, indicating its expected impact on several governorates.
The Center confirmed in its warning bulletin that the weather will be cold to very cold in the mountainous highlands of the governorates of: Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Raymah, Ibb, Al Dhalea, Taiz, Lahj, Abyan, and Shabwa.
The impacts will also include the desert and highland areas in the governorates of: Al-Jawf, Ma’rib, Hadhramaut, and Al-Mahra.
In addition, scattered rain is expected on: the Socotra Archipelago, parts of the Gulf of Aden, the southern and western coasts, the interior regions and the western highlands, while dry weather will prevail in the rest of the regions.
Cautions and warnings:
The Center issued important directives to citizens and farmers to avoid damage resulting from the cold wave, which are as follows:
1. For citizens:
The elderly, children, patients, and those working during the late hours of the night and early morning are advised to take the necessary precautions.
Wear heavy clothing and avoid direct exposure to cold weather.
2. For farmers:
Take preventive measures to protect crops from the effects of extreme cold, and provide appropriate heating methods to protect livestock, bees, and poultry.
The Center stresses the importance of following up on weather updates through official channels, and staying away from rumours, to ensure optimal preparedness to face these weather conditions.
