For nine days, Lahj Governorate has been experiencing a complete power outage to citizens’ homes in the city of Al-Houta, the capital of the governorate, the Tuban District, and the surrounding areas, without any clarifications from the local authority, which remained silent at a time when there were no signs of a solution.
Lahj Governorate suffers from great neglect in various fields, and is considered the only “forgotten” southern governorate, as residents state that their governorate is the worst in terms of services and oversight over them.
The power outage for nine days as of Monday is not the first, as the governorate had previously witnessed an outage that lasted fifty-four days without any action from the local authorities, which caused a severe water crisis.
Citizens were surprised by the silence and inability of the local authority and the Electricity Corporation in Lahj Governorate to provide a fuel locomotive for the governorate’s power generation stations, which quickly took the initiative to remove the “fuses” from the light poles just to keep the electricity running for two days at a rate of six hours a day tonight when fuel is available, but it continues to run.
