French Radio Monte Carlo International said that the Israeli occupation is preparing to launch a fifth round of raids on Yemen.
It quoted Israeli sources as saying that Washington asked Tel Aviv to focus on military sites belonging to the Houthis, instead of bombing civilian targets such as ports and power plants.
She indicated that due to the scarcity of intelligence information about the Houthi military sites and the movements of the group’s leaders, Israel is considering sending the navy off Yemen to provide rapid firepower, and transport commando forces if necessary.
In addition, the British newspaper "The Telegraph" said that Israel is facing difficulty in collecting information about the Houthis, as it did not consider them a threat until the attacks of October 7, 2023.
She added, quoting an Israeli intelligence source, that collecting intelligence information now begins from scratch, indicating that the lack of common borders and the distance make human options limited.
For his part, American security expert Mark Toth said that Donald Trump assuming office later this month may lead to an escalation of American strikes on the Houthis.
This comes at a time when tensions in Yemen have escalated dramatically with the intensification of US air strikes against Houthi positions in Sanaa, while the Israeli occupation threatens to launch an expanded military operation against the group, which confirms its readiness to confront any attack.
Shortly after the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas on October 7, 2023, the Houthis began targeting ships off the Yemeni coast, in addition to launching missiles and drones towards Israel, stressing that this came within the framework of supporting the Palestinians.
The attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthis led to a significant decline in maritime traffic through the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea, reaching the Suez Canal, which is an essential corridor for international trade movement.
The Houthis have escalated their attacks since the ceasefire agreement was concluded last November between Israel and Hezbollah, which is also supported by Iran, in Lebanon.
Israel launched raids on areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, one of which targeted Sanaa International Airport at the end of last December.
