The American Center for Justice welcomed the Biden administration's transfer of 11 Yemeni men from Guantanamo prison to Oman, considering that this move represents an important step towards addressing the injustice of indefinite detention without charge.
The center revealed the names of those released, including Sharqawi Al-Hajj, who was detained for 23 years and subjected to documented violations and torture.
The Center praised the transfer of these prisoners to Amman, but stressed the need to completely close Guantanamo and provide fair legal solutions to the detainees who are still there.
He urged the American administration to fulfill its pledge to close the prison and transfer all the people who were acquitted.
The Center affirmed its commitment to defending human rights and the rule of law, considering that the indefinite detention system in Guantanamo constitutes a disgrace to human rights and global justice. The center renewed its call to close the prison and provide fair solutions for the detainees.
