Officially announcing the operation of Ataq International Airport starting today

Today, the Civil Aviation Authority issued a circular declaring the readiness of Ataq International Airport in Shabwa Governorate, and announcing that it will be officially opened and operated to receive and deport flights starting today, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from six in the morning until six in the evening.
The authority’s announcement to all airlines and international organizations that operate flights in the Republic of Yemen confirmed that Ataq International Airport, located in Shabwa Governorate, is fully technically and administratively ready. It also specified the international code for the airport, approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization, as OYAT.
The announcement of the opening and operation of Ataq International Airport comes after all the equipment at the airport was completed, under the supervision and follow-up of the Ministry of Transport, the General Authority of Civil Aviation and its competent technical management, and with the efforts and coordination with the leadership of the local authority in Shabwa Governorate, represented by the Governor Sheikh Awad Ibn Al-Wazir, and also with the efforts of Airport management.
It is worth noting that flights to and from Ataq International Airport will be scheduled later, in coordination between the Aviation Authority and Yemen Airways.
