The UN Security Council held an open session to discuss sanctions measures against Yemen.
The Council heard a briefing from the Chairman of the Sanctions Committee, Albania’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Farid Hoxha, on the sanctions measures that will end on November 15.
The Security Council reviewed the final report of the team of international and regional experts on Yemen, after the committee had held, on October 27, a meeting with its team of experts to discuss the report in preparation for submitting it to the Council.
Khoja said that the current sanctions list related to Yemen includes 12 people and one entity, noting that the committee has not received any request to include additional names on the list or to remove or exempt.
The Council is scheduled to hold a special session next week to adopt the extension of sanctions and the mandate of the group of experts, in order to support the ongoing political efforts to establish peace in the country,
