Greece sends a new frigate to the Red Sea

The European Union's Aspedes naval mission announced that a military frigate was heading from Greece to the Red Sea to participate in securing international shipping lines from Houthi attacks.
Aspidis reported on Sunday that a Greek frigate had joined the European Union’s military fleet in the Red Sea, which is charged with protecting and securing international shipping lanes as described.
She welcomed the Greek frigate (HS HYDRA) and its crew, who will play a decisive role by supporting freedom of navigation throughout the area of operations in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.”
The “Hydra” frigate replaces its compatriot “Spitsai,” which returned late last December to the Salamina base of the Greek Navy in the south of the country.
