The National Committee to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations carried out, today, Monday, a field visit to the Western and Eastern Rabat camps in Lahj Governorate, in response to complaints received by the Committee about allegations of violations occurring in a number of camps within some governorates.
The team, headed by committee member Judge Diaa Maherz and with the participation of field researchers, listened to camp officials about the human rights and humanitarian situation, who explained the interventions of the displaced persons unit in the governorate in light of the scarcity of capabilities and the support of some organizations to provide the basic needs of the displaced persons in those camps, who number (730) individuals.
The committee team also listened to a number of displaced people, and documented the typical violations they suffered, including forced displacement, attacks on their lives, targeting their physical safety, demolition of their homes, and disabilities as a result of mines and explosive devices remnants of war.
The humanitarian and living conditions of the displaced people in those camps were also reviewed and the extent to which they received the necessary services in terms of shelter and the availability of health, food and safety services.
