The electricity service in the capital, Aden, this evening, Monday, January 13, 2024, witnessed a noticeable deterioration in generation, as the deficit rose to 6 hours after it was programmed for 4 and a half hours just an hour ago.
- Reason for the deficit: The main reason for the increase in the deficit is due to the reduction of the Mansoura power station from 40 megawatts to 25 megawatts due to the depletion of the diesel needed to operate the station.
- Total current generation:
- M'Sila Petro Station: 70 MW.
- Mansoura station: 25 megawatts.
Expectations indicate that the deficit may increase in the coming hours as the diesel shortage continues at the Mansoura station, which threatens to exacerbate the crisis.
All diesel stations in Aden are currently out of service, further complicating the electrical situation in the city. And warnings that the current situation heralds further deterioration if sufficient fuel is not provided to the generating stations in the coming days, which will cause new crises in providing electricity to citizens.
The Corporation continues to appeal to the concerned authorities to provide fuel urgently to avoid worsening the crisis in light of winter conditions.
