Human trafficking through Yemen generates smugglers $30 million annually

An international study revealed that the smuggling of African migrants through Yemen generates about $30 million annually.
The MMC International Network, which specializes in migration research, stated that the eastern route, which passes through Yemen, is considered the most dangerous of the African migration routes.
She explained that about 100,000 migrants cross Yemen annually, which constitutes “a smuggling trade worth 30 million US dollars annually, and is an important source of income for smugglers operating from Djibouti.”
The study indicated that human smuggling and trafficking networks control the eastern route, especially the Red Sea crossing.
