On its second day, the free medical camp to perform cataract surgeries and lens implants, in the Bates area in Abyan Governorate, achieved continued success, which came under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and the Public Health and Population Office in the governorate, and with the funding and supervision of Direct Aid (Yemen Office), and the implementation of the Eye Foundation. Medical and Al Ain Specialized Clinic.
Dr. Saleh Hussein Zein, director of Al Ain Specialized Clinic and head of the camp's medical staff, said that the medical team received hundreds of citizens to examine and identify cases that require surgical operations. He added that 218 cataract extraction and lens implant operations have been performed so far, with the target number of 400 operations to be completed within the next two days.
Dr. Zein confirmed that the medical team follows up on cases after operations and dispenses the necessary medications to ensure complete recovery, praising the role of the health office and the local authority in Khanfar for facilitating the team’s work.
He also thanked the Direct Aid Organization, the humanitarian arm of the Kuwaiti brothers, for their generous support in providing medical care to the needy in light of the difficult economic conditions that our country is suffering from.
While the camp and those in charge of it received the thanks and appreciation of the people, who confirmed that these efforts contributed to alleviating their suffering, especially in light of the economic difficulties and high costs of treatment in private hospitals.
The people also praised the great efforts made by the medical team, stressing that such initiatives restore hope to patients who suffer from eye diseases and lack the financial capabilities to receive appropriate treatment.
