Professor Dr. Khaled Omar Baslim, Undersecretary for the Educational Affairs Sector and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the National Classification of Universities, confirmed that the Ministry, during the process of evaluating the universities participating in the classification, will work on a number of opinion polls, namely the academic experts’ satisfaction questionnaire, the student satisfaction questionnaire, and the employers’ opinion questionnaire. As they are indicators by which the quality of higher education is measured.
The questionnaires will examine the extent of students’ satisfaction with the quality of education, university facilities, and student activities. The academic experts’ questionnaire also shows the confidence of faculty members in participating universities in the level and quality of programs, in addition to the extent of employers’ satisfaction with the quality of university graduates.
He added, through opinion surveys, it is possible to identify the areas in which universities excel and thus strengthen them, as well as identify the aspects that need improvement in their curricula and programmes. Comparing the results of the surveys in the participating universities also helps to identify best practices and identify the gaps that must be filled.
As Dr. Baslim explained, the results of opinion polls will provide accurate data that will help decision-makers in universities make informed decisions regarding development and modernization, and the polls will also provide a clear picture to the public about the quality of higher education and the services provided.
The evaluation committees are scheduled to descend on the participating universities in the governorates of Aden, Taiz, and Hadramaut next week.
