A government official announced that the number of victims of the gas station explosion in Al-Bayda Governorate had risen to 40, in addition to dozens being injured.
Arif Al-Omari, director of media in Al-Bayda (a center affiliated with the government), said that the accident created a great tragedy, as the number of deaths rose to 40 cases and the injured to more than 70, most of them in critical condition.
Al-Omari added that a large group of wounded people were transferred in serious condition to hospitals in the city of Aden to receive treatment, due to Al-Bayda’s lack of necessary medical capabilities.
Last Saturday, Houthi elements opened fire on a citizen’s car, causing a stray bullet to reach a nearby gas station and explode, causing a disaster that led to the death and injury of dozens.
Later, the militia said that the incident resulted from the explosion of 4 gas stations, and did not indicate its causes.
