The General Union of Housing Cooperative Societies - Aden held an emergency meeting yesterday afternoon with the heads of housing societies in the capital, Aden, to discuss a number of issues, especially the latest developments in the process of receiving and handing over the Union’s office at the Land Authority branch in Aden.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the General Union, Jabal Radfan, welcomed the heads of associations, thanking them for responding to the Union’s invitation and for their participation in developing solutions to all the problems facing associations in general.
The President of the Union also spoke about the practical step of removing slums from the association’s plans and the continuation of the removal campaign until the completion of all slums on the plans, stressing that these efforts are continuing and will be achieved soon.
The President of the Union put the audience before the problem of obstructing the delivery of the Associations Office and the documents, maps, records it contains, and the associations’ archives that had not been delivered by the Land Authority branch in Aden to the General Federation of Housing Cooperative Societies - Aden in accordance with the applicable legal systems and directives issued by His Excellency the Minister of State. Governor of the capital, Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, as well as the prosecution’s clear directives to hand over the associations office.
Jabal Radfan confirmed that the procedures for receiving and handing over the associations office had reached the Public Prosecution, after contacting the authority’s branch in all legal ways, but they did not respond to us.
The meeting decided to stand together to extract the rights of associations according to law and order, starting with the Associations Office, and secondly, not to allow anyone to attack the associations’ sites, their plans, and their future housing plan. At the end of the meeting, the Union appealed to the Attorney General and Minister of State, Governor of the capital, Aden, to oblige the Land Authority branch in Aden to comply with the law and implement the directives that included handing over the associations office and its contents to the Union and dealing with it according to the known systems and laws that have been followed since the establishment of housing associations.
