UK urged strict measures to stop the Houthi militia's terrorist practices that hinder relief organizations in Yemen, as these policies negatively affect the needs of millions of Yemenis who rely on humanitarian aid.

During the Security Council meeting to discuss the situation in Yemen, the British Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, James Cariocy, expressed his country's concern about the continued detention and intimidation of the relief workers.

He emphasized that these practices hinder the access of aid to nearly 20 million people in urgent need of support.

Cariocy pointed out that these violations lead to the deterioration of the relief work environment in Yemen, at a time when the humanitarian situation is witnessing a continuous decline in concern.

He also denounced the tragic incident that claimed the life of one of the workers in the World Food Program during his detention to the Houthis, calling for the immediate and unconditional release of all United Nations employees and detained NGOs.

In a related context, the British official praised the release of the crew of the Galaxy Leader with Omani, and the Houthi maritime attacks have declined recently, but he stressed the need to put a final end to these attacks to ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. >

He also renewed the emphasis on Britain's commitment to the support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, by providing humanitarian and economic aid and strengthening institutions, which contributes to achieving the necessary reforms to improve the lives of Yemeni citizens and ensure a more stable and prosperous future for the country.
