Operating Asifra Electricity in Taiz after a hiatus that lasted for years

This afternoon, the trial operation of the Asifra power station in the Yemeni governorate of Taiz took place after a years-long hiatus due to the ongoing war.
An official source at the Taiz Electricity Corporation explained that a team from the corporation, in cooperation with the local authority, succeeded in restarting the experimental operation of government electricity, after re-maintaining some generators and providing them with the necessary needs.
The source added that operating the Asifra station will contribute to alleviating citizens’ suffering from power outages, and improving public services in the governorate.
It is worth noting that the high value of commercial electricity bills in Taiz has caused an economic crisis among citizens, due to lack of regulation, the greed of generator owners there, and weak government oversight.
