Minister Socotra discusses with the UNDP aspects related to the implementation of a number of agricultural and fisheries projects

At the beginning of the meeting, which was held at the ministry’s office in the capital, Aden, Minister Al-Soqatri welcomed the United Nations Development Program team and discussed with them a number of current projects, most notably the project to rehabilitate the fishing port in the Hajif area in the capital, Aden, and the measures taken regarding the work of technical studies to be implemented by one of the... In the same context, Minister Al-Soqatri explained that the Ministry, in coordination with the Hani Al-Sahouli Foundation for Studies and Consultations, had, during the last period, prepared a technical study to rehabilitate the fish port in Al-Tawahi, as well as the work of “Mr. Plan” for the port, according to the latest international specifications for fishing ports, stressing that these The study should be referred to and benefited from within the framework of the current project to rehabilitate the port.
The meeting also discussed the level of implementation of the ongoing work to salvage sunken ships in the fishing port, after efforts made by the Ministry to obtain a judicial ruling to salvage these ships, which were the main reason for the cessation of the port’s activity, in addition to the timetable plan prepared by the contracting company to salvage these ships from the dock. In a related context, the meeting discussed the ongoing work within the framework of the fisheries management project in the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea, the Red Sea and Al-Mahra, which is being implemented by the United Nations Development Program and its local partners (the Public Works Project and the Small and Micro Enterprise Development Agency), which aims to rehabilitate a number of From fish landing centers in a number of coastal governorates, in addition to a number of other activities related to supporting fishermen and developing their capabilities, which are funded by the World Bank.
In this regard, the UNDP team reviewed the level of what has been accomplished in this project and the remaining work from it, stressing that the implementation procedures for the project are proceeding in accordance with the project’s chronic plan, in light of the joint follow-up and supervision of the Ministry and the organization on all components and activities of the project.
The meeting was attended by a number of undersecretaries and advisors of the ministry, the head of the General Authority for Fisheries in the Gulf of Aden, and a number of general directors in the ministry’s general office.
