“Multidimensional poverty and its impact on the child and the family” in a workshop of the Central Bureau of Statistics in Aden

The Central Bureau of Statistics, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), today organized an introductory workshop on multidimensional poverty and its impact on children and families, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of International Cooperation Planning, Dr. Waed Abdullah Badib.
The inauguration of the workshop was attended by Dr. Safaa Abdel Moati, Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics, and Mr. Mansour Zaid, Undersecretary of the Ministry of International Cooperation Planning. A group of relevant authorities and UNICEF also participated in the workshop.
During the workshop, consultant Nasser Al-Bahm from the Social Policy Department at UNICEF presented a working paper on multidimensional poverty, the concept, importance and goals. The Statistics Authority also reviewed the current situation of multidimensional poverty indicators in Yemen.
The consultant presented the concepts of multidimensional child poverty and measurement methods. The Central Bureau of Statistics also presented the reality of multidimensional poverty based on a review of a number of indicators.
Mr. Kamal from the technical team at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation presented a working paper on the dimensions and profiling of the study of poverty.
At the end of the workshop, discussions were opened, notes were taken, questions were answered, and the structure of conducting the study was discussed.
The workshop aims to introduce participants to the concept of multidimensional poverty and its impact on the child and the family, as well as to discuss the dimensions and stereotyping of the study of poverty.
The organization of this workshop comes within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the Central Bureau of Statistics and UNICEF in the field of measuring multidimensional poverty in Yemen.
