A UN report confirming the deprivation of 654,000 children and women of the treatment of malnutrition

A UN report confirmed that more than 600,000 children and women are pregnant and breastfeeding in Yemen, deprived of the treatment of acute malnutrition during the past month, due to lack of funding.
The World Food Program (WFP) said in the humanitarian report, issued on Wednesday, that a total of 654 thousand children and a pregnant and breastfeeding woman from the (PBWG) group were deprived of obtaining a treatment for malnutrition in January 2025, due to the severe shortage of financing
The report added that the "Acute malnutrition" program of "World Food" is still suffering from a severe deficiency in financing, leaving about 80% of children, pregnant women and breastfeeding women targeted in the humanitarian response plan for the year 2025, at the risk of complications of malnutrition.
The program pointed out that its operations in Yemen still suffer from a huge financing gap, as it only obtained 21% of the total net financing requirements of $ 558 million for the next six months (March 2025 - August 2025).
The report pointed out that the World Food Program, despite the lack of funding, was able last January to provide nutritional aid to 618,319 children, women, pregnant and breastfeeding girl, including 358,789 in the Mediterranean Pcurity Treatment Program (MAM), and 259,530 others in the Program to prevent the severe malnutrition (PAM).
The UN program confirmed that it began in the middle of last month limited distributions within the "severe malnutrition program", which will cover 166 thousand people in the areas within the influence of the recognized government, thanks to the grant submitted by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation.
He added that last January, he was forced to give priority within the framework of the "Mediterranean Pcurity Program" for 59 districts in the areas under the control of the Houthi group, north of the country, given the lack of nutritional materials.
