Moscow: Washington is using sanctions against Yemen to achieve these goals

Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, confirmed that the United States is shamelessly using international sanctions against Yemen to achieve its selfish goals instead of promoting peace there.
Polyansky's statements came after the UN Security Council unanimously decided to extend the sanctions imposed on Yemen for an additional year.
At the same time, the deputy delegate of Russia noted after the vote that “the set of Security Council resolutions on sanctions on Yemen increasingly contradicts the development of positive political processes around it, leading in the long term not only to putting an end to the bloodshed in Yemen itself, "But also to the general stability in relations between the main countries in the region."
Polyansky stressed that “against this background, the actions of the United States appear particularly ridiculous, especially Washington’s attempts to use current international sanctions against Yemen to advance selfish, narrow-minded goals that are far from promoting peace in this long-suffering country.”
He stressed that "this conclusion is due to how horribly the US military dealt with the military products that were intercepted in the Gulf of Oman last December, and which Washington redirected to Ukraine to meet the needs of the Kiev regime."
The Russian diplomat concluded by saying: “We have explained several times why such actions by the Americans contradict not only the provisions of the relevant Security Council resolutions on Yemen, including Resolution 2216, but also with the rules of international law.”< /p>
