In the context of efforts to enhance security in Abyan Governorate, a joint security campaign from the security forces and the security belt led by the Director General of the Governorate Security succeeded in eliminating a large criminal gang involved in cutting the main cable of the optical fibers that link the capital Aden to the Abyan Governorate.

The campaign resulted in the raid of a number of sites in which the gang members were hiding, and it was able to arrest 12 people so far, while the campaign is still continuing to purify the area from the rest of the gang.

The security campaign began on Friday evening and continued until dawn today, Saturday, as the security forces and the security belt roamed the various sites that the gang is believed to be hiding. According to the security sources, the campaign will continue to pursue those involved, as not all the gang members have yet been arrested, and the remaining people are expected to be arrested in the coming hours.

The security services have warned that anyone who proves his cooperation or accommodation of these criminal gangs will be severely held accountable for covering up. In this context, the security services called on all citizens in Zanzibar and the Delta to cooperate with the security campaign as happened today, as the campaign received great support from the people of the code area who supported the security forces in raiding the gang sites

The campaign had especially targeted the sites that the gang sold the stolen optical fiber cables, which were sold to a group of shops and some homes in the region, and citizens cooperation contributed significantly to the success of the campaign, and the gang elements were arrested after accurate raids.

It is worth noting that the security campaign led by the Director General of Security of Abyan Governorate, Brigadier Ali Nasser Bouzid, in the code area, included several security units, including the security of Abyan, the security belt, the special forces, the emergency forces, the rescue forces, in addition to the code police, which contributed to good coordination and high effectiveness during the campaign.

The ongoing security campaign reflects the serious efforts of the security services in addressing criminal gangs that threaten the security and stability of the region, and stresses the importance of cooperation between the security services and citizens in combating crime and maintaining public safety.
