The start of the electricity service with the start of the summer season in Aden and fears of a popular explosion

Electricity service in the capital, Aden, began to decline significantly with the entry of the summer, amid a very high temperature, which sparked widespread discontent between citizens and fears of popular protests.
The city witnessed during the past days an increase in the interruption hours, as the extinguishing periods reach more than 6 continuous hours in some areas, compared to operating hours not exceeding two hours, which increased the suffering of the population, especially with the inability of a number of families to provide alternatives such as generators or solar energy devices.
Local sources reported that the reasons for the repeated interruptions are due to the exhausting fuel of the stations, in addition to the worn out infrastructure and poor periodic maintenance, in the absence of a clear absence of root treatments by government agencies.
Fears of a popular explosion increased if the service continued during the peak of the summer, as activists circulated invitations to organize protests and boycott electricity bills, demanding an end to the suffering that has been going on for years without real solutions.
This deterioration comes at a critical time, as temperatures and humidity escalate, which increases the effect of interruption on children, the elderly and patients.
