The United Nations calls for self -control and stop all military activities in Yemen

The United Nations renewed, on Monday, expressing its deep concern about the recent American air strikes on the Houthi -controlled areas in Yemen, which was carried out on April 17 and 18 in the vicinity of Ras Issa Port, calling for the call to be at the utmost restraint.
UN spokesman, Stephen Dujarric, said that five humanitarian workers were injured in those raids, pointing to preliminary reports that more than 230 injuries occurred, including 80 dead.
The United Nations Humanitarian Coordination Office (OCHA) stated that humanitarian aid was immediately mobilized to support local health facilities, including shock therapy and emergency surgery centers, as well as providing surgical supplies.
Dujarric pointed out that the fire that broke out in the port was tolerated on Monday morning, but he expressed deep concern about reports reported a fuel leakage to the Red Sea.
Dujarric also expressed the United Nations concern about missile strikes and the attacks of the Houthi -waging aircraft against Israel and in the Red Sea, calling on the group to stop these attacks immediately, and to adhere to Security Council Resolution 2768 related to the Houthi attacks on ships.
The UN spokesman stressed the need to stop all military activities in Yemen and around Yemen, noting that the UN employees continue to communicate with the parties concerned.
Dujarik warned that any additional escalation may lead to further destabilization in Yemen and the region, and pose a great danger to the deteriorating humanitarian situation.
in the same context, the United Nations Mission to support the Hodeidah Agreement (Onth) conducted a patrol to the port of Ras Issa, and noticed major structural damage to the port and its facilities. The mission announced that it plans to conduct another patrol on Tuesday to the port of Hodeidah to assess the situation there.
According to the statement, the mission works with the parties concerned in Al Hudaydah Governorate to enhance dialogue and explore ways to calm the situation, while emphasizing respect for international law and humanitarian law, and to protect civilians and civil infrastructure.
The United Nations also renewed its demand for the immediate and unconditional release of all its employees and other arbitrary detainees with the Houthi group.
Dujarric pointed out that the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grendburg, called for providing reliable guarantees to protect the Red Sea from shifting to a long -term battlefield, considering that these guarantees are necessary to prevent Yemen from slipping away through peace.
Humanitarian organizations have warned that the recent violence may exacerbate the humanitarian crisis, as more than 19 million people in Yemen need vital assistance.
The OCHA office also pointed out that the alcohol outbreaks in Ma'rib Governorate continued to register more than 240 confirmed cases and the death of more than ten children this year.
The office stressed the importance of providing sustainable interventions in public health, which requires regular financing and ensuring humanitarian partners reaching the affected areas.
Despite the challenges, the human partners continued to provide aid, as food was delivered to about 6 million people since the beginning of the year, in addition to supporting more than 500 health facilities that provide life -saving services to about 225 thousand people.
The Secretary -General of the United Nations expressed, on Sunday, his deep concern about the risk of increasing escalation in the region, and called on all parties to exercise the utmost restraint.
