Global Food: This is the date for stopping the acute malnutrition treatment program in Yemen

The World Food Program announced its interference to treat acute malnutrition cases in the Houthi -controlled areas in Yemen, starting next May due to the interruption of material supply and lack of financing.
The UN program said in the humanitarian situation report that the program of its acute medium malnutrition is facing a complete interruption in the supply of materials necessary for its continuation during the post -April period in the areas under the control of the Houthis.
He added that, as a result of reducing the activities of this program significantly as a result of the limited financing, UNICEF will cover the highly dangerous acute malnutrition cases in priority directorates, which the food program was previously covered.
The report pointed out that the same program will also face a severe shortage of supplies and financing from next August, in the areas within the influence of the Yemeni government.
The report pointed out that the continued severe shortage of funds prompted the World Food Program to reduce its nutritional activities in the country significantly, “The program to prevent malnutrition is implemented at reduced levels, which affected about 654 thousand children, pregnant women, lactating and girls, equivalent to 80% of the targets in the humanitarian response plan for the year 2025.”
The UN program indicated that its operations in Yemen still suffer from a large financing gap, as it only received 20% of the total net financing requirements of $ 564 million for the next six months (May - October 2025).
