UN report: More than half of the Yemeni families have not been able to meet their nutritional needs during March

A UN report confirmed that more than half of the families in Yemen were unable to meet their nutritional needs during last March, due to the continued economic deterioration, lack of financing and drought conditions.
The World Food Program (WFP) said in its recent report on the state of food security in Yemen: “In March 2025, food security remained disturbing, as 57% of families were unable to meet the minimum food needs throughout the country.”
The report added that the percentage of families that lack the possibility of obtaining adequate food, in March, was similar in both the internationally recognized government's influence regions (IRG), and that is under the control of the Houthis (SBA), and if it was an annual increase of 19% and 28%, respectively.
The UN program indicated that the exacerbation of the food insecurity crisis is mainly due to several major factors, among them "the prolonged economic deterioration in the country, the sharp deficiency in human financing, the limited livelihoods, and the drought -like conditions that negatively affect the agricultural sector, the repercussions of the American classification of the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization."
