The Yemeni socialist questions the feasibility of a political settlement to the war in Yemen

The Yemeni Socialist Party questioned the feasibility of the political settlement currently led by regional and international powers to end the war in Yemen.
This came in statements made by the Party Secretary, Abdul Rahman Al-Saqqaf, during a virtual discussion session on “Prospects for a Political Settlement in Yemen,” organized by the Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies.
Al-Saqqaf said, “The current settlement comes on the basis of a deal between external powers, which are Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Iran, Britain, and the United States,” and that “there is a geopolitical map in Yemen that was cleverly woven over the past years.”
Al-Saqqaf added, “If the agreement is signed between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi group, and Riyadh takes the role of mediator in Yemen, this means that it has succeeded in “making the Houthis negotiate with the legitimate Yemeni government.”
Al-Saqqaf stressed the need to involve all Yemeni parties in the political settlement, including the Houthis, the legitimate government, and political and societal forces.
Al-Saqqaf called for the political solution to the war in Yemen to be just and comprehensive, and to meet the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
