Today, Friday, the capital, Aden, witnessed angry protests by illegal African immigrants, demanding that the International Migration Organization return them to their country.
The migrants gathered in Sheikh Othman District, raising banners reading, “Our return is a right,” and “We demand a safe return to our country.”
The police tried to disperse the demonstrators, but they did not succeed, as the migrants clashed with the police and used sticks in an attempt to break through the security barriers.
The protests raised concerns among citizens in Sheikh Othman District, as they caused the closure of some roads and streets.
Security sources said that the authorities are looking for a solution to the crisis, through negotiations with the migrants to convince them to return to their country.
While the Southern Transitional Council in Sheikh Othman City called on humanitarian organizations to deport the Africans and return them to their country because Aden was unable to absorb a number of them.
Thousands of immigrants recently came to Aden, and the city was overcrowded with them, causing a crisis for the citizens in light of the spread of theft and their presence posing a danger to the population.
