Socotra Governor, Engineer Raafat Al-Thaqli, yesterday, Saturday, laid the foundation stone for the agricultural quarry building project in the port of Socotra, funded by the Integrated Support Program for Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Archipelago (Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature).

Governor Al-Thaqali stressed the importance of the agricultural quarry in the governorate, especially since the Socotra Archipelago is one of the most important world natural heritage sites, and that the quarry works to quarantine plants and animals introduced to the governorate and ensure that they are free of diseases and diseases that may change the nature of the biodiversity that characterizes the archipelago, offering his thanks. For the integrated support program for this vital project.

In addition, Governor Al-Thaqali inaugurated the environmental tourism camp project in the Dehamri Marine Reserve, with support from the Integrated Support Program for Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Socotra Archipelago.

Al-Thaqali praised the project’s efforts to enhance the infrastructure of the reserve, which is considered one of the most important environmental reserves, distinguished by coral reefs and ornamental fish, and is considered one of the most important sources of tourist attraction in the governorate. Today, Governor Al-Thaqali also inspected the Roche Environmental Camp, which is currently being established with funding from the Integrated Support Programme, and learned from the project’s specialists about the stages of implementation and the level of achievement in it.

The governor was accompanied in laying the foundation stone and opening the camp by the Directors of Agriculture and Irrigation, Engineer Yahya Saleh, the Director of the Governor’s Office, Mr. Fahmi Al-Thaqali, the Director of the Environmental Protection Office, Brother Salem Hawash, and the stadium, Salem Dahig Ali, Vice Chairman of the Development Committee and President of the Association for the Preservation and Development of the Dehimri Reserve, Brother Radwan Salem. .
